Computers running slow
There can be several reasons why Computers run slow. Here are a few reasons and how to fix them:
Hard Disk space filled Hard Disk should have atleast 200 to 300 MB of free space for temporary files. Background Programs Remove or disable any TSRs or programs that automatically start each time the computer boots. To see what programs are running in the background, how much memory they're using, and their CPU usage open Task Manager. An anti-virus scanner on the computer, spyware protection program, or other security utility often begin to scan the computer and it can decrease the overall performance of your computer. Computer or processor is overheating Make sure your computer and processor is not overheating, excessive heat can cause a significant decrease in computer performance. If any of the above solutions don't work out try to reinstall the Operating System and if the problem still persists it can be a serious hardware problem. May be CPU, RAM or Motherboard. r4i card |

RE: Computers running slow
Does it still help to defrag your hard drive? I remember when I used to do it and it seemed to help. Also another way to speed up your computer is to get more RAM. You should notice a nice increase in speed especially if you had 1gb or less of RAM.
